Jim Kull and the ensembles at St. Charles East H.S. are forever BCM-branded now ... a BCM concert last night—all Newman and Bryant and Bonney—sent out fantastic performances into the world, including Interruption Overture, Hopak, the world premiere of Avenue X, and a simply-smoking Chunk performance. Bonney and I were on hand, and the air was thick with The BCM Love. World premiere performances throughout the week at the co-commissioning schools were exhausting for me personally, but since I was floored with the level of playing and musicianship from these groups I can hardly complain. My heartfelt thanks to every living thing at Addison Trail, Batavia, Neuqua Valley, Oswego, Plainfield South, St. Charles East, Waubonsie Valley, and Willowbrook High Schools for a terrific week of non-stop AveX...
