The Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra's wildly-successful world premiere of Metropolitan, last Sunday at Orchestra Hall!
MJS and I after the performance
Maestro Nag Bushan Odekar, me, and CYSO Music Director Allen Tinkham at the after-performance celebration. Allen crawled in my head, figured out this piece, and realized it perfectly. This is a conductor to watch, people.
My thanks to the orchestra for sounding like GOLD, and working to the bone to polish this piece to a high gloss. The strings were luscious, the winds and brass brilliant, and the percussion indefatigable. Huge thanks to CYSO Director of Operations Joshua Simonds for his marvelous organizational skills and constant guidance, and gratitude to the Bonneys for putting up the BCM-family for so long! Next Metro performance: Midwest Clinic, Chicago IL, Dec. 13, 2005.
