Joffrey Ballet recreation of The Rite of Spring ballet. The choreography is mostly Nijinsky's, with some gaps filled in by Joffrey and Hodson. It's really weird!

Here is the Reagan statue unveiling from a couple days ago. The Army Chorus performs my arrangement of "America the Beautiful" at 29:20 or so. That's me conducting (we got some good TV time)!

That was a truly beautiful arrangement. Congrats on a terrific performance. And Nancy gave you props too!

Scotty, you should come to MacDill and perform...I got to here the Airborne men's chorus at the Army Ball last year...and it was mediocre, with no real choral music, just pop tunes...anyway, GREAT ARRANGEMENT!!!

Ahh, the 82d Airborne Division Chorus. Great entertainers and representatives from one of the U.S. Army's elite units, but a fine choral ensemble they ain't.

I used to be in the 82d Airborne Division Band, and the few times we crossed paths with the Chorus many of us had to grin and bear it.

The Army Chorus in Washington has a limited travel budget, but with sponsorship footing at least some of the bill we can go anywhere. Always a treat to get "outside the beltway." If you really want us in your area, it'd take a lot of work but would be worth it.

Thanks for your kind words!

Come to think of it, we're getting down to Sarasota in late February. Slim chance you could piggyback off of that.

CATcerto by Mindaugas Piečaitis. If you've seen Nora the Piano Cat, then you will be familiar with the main idea of this piece. This composer took YouTube videos of a cat mashing keys on a piano and wrote a piece around it. Not only that, the piece sounds quite good, if a bit limited by the subject matter. What's also interesting is that the video has over 1 million views, so a lot of you have probably already seen it. If not, it's worth watching.

Anyone still around? Anyway, this is a good and simple setting of Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra to video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nYx8iX9oX8

Called the Glottal Opera. this vid shows four camera shots of the larynxes (larynxi?) of a female quartet as they sing. Very cool.

Recently the senior enlisted soldier of the Army Band retired. He was (still is) a tuba player.

Some guys in the band put together this video for his retirement ceremony. The one driving the steamroller is Colonel Tom Rotondi, Leader and Commander of the Army Band.
